Lady Behind the Wheel
Hi again, no need to reintroduce myself but heres a few tidbits about me. I wear a lot of hats (more like headbands) behind the scenes. A few positions include clay form thrower, glaze chemist, equipment technician, kiln operator, top-sales lady, executive marketer, graphic designer, chief of packaging, materials procurement administrator and head of the never-ending cleaning crew to name a few. Truth be told I should likely be fired from that last job title. Also, none of that is as professional in reality as I just made it sound. As you can see, a lot goes into this little business of mine beyond closed doors.
I create in my home studio in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. I have an endlessly supportive partner of 7 years, Josh & two adorable mischievous beagles, Ripley & Hank. After a grueling 6 years of post high school academia, I graduated with my Master's and landed my dream job. I'm currently a speech pathologist working with the traumatic brain injury community.
I can often be found in my pottery studio or dancing around my kitchen cooking. My soul sings when I'm outside kayaking, wandering though the woods, sitting around a fire or tending to my brag worthy house-plants. I love learning about locally foraged botanicals & incorporating them into herbal remedies or delicious dishes. Im extremely grateful to live on 145 acre of pristine woodlands that I can explore and roam until my heart's desire. I can appreciate a good book, high quality chocolate & a hot cup of tea anytime. Humor and sarcasm are my love languages & relied upon coping skills. I have an insatiable interest for the macabre & true crime genres.
Maybe it's cliche but I believe showing simple kindness to others & taking care of our environment makes a big difference. Working with pottery involves using a lot of harmful chemicals and can, if you aren't careful, create a lot of unnecessary waste. Through research/trial and error I've developed an extremely low waste system of reclaiming, repurposing & recycling all that I can in the process.
Well that's pretty much me in a nutshell... if you're still hanging in there reading this, you're a true gem! I appreciate you wanting to get to know me a bit better (:
